Is this you?

Different people come to Tina

  • You work in beauty, and your clients keep asking, "Do you do brow tattoo?" You send them somewhere else.
  • You own a salon, and you work long hours for the same money.
  • You're a mum, and you want work that fits around your kids.
  • Your job pays the bills, but it isn't yours. You don't need any experience to start.
  • You did a short course somewhere else, and you still can't do a real face.

If one of these is you, keep going.

Who teaches you

Tina Huynh

  • Tina has done cosmetic tattoo since 2016, and has trained about 500 students since then.
  • She has judged, spoken or been Australia's ambassador at cosmetic tattoo competitions in Vietnam, Turkey, Indonesia, Japan and Thailand.
  • Her academy won Best Cosmetic Tattooing Academy 2022, and she was Business Person of the Year 2024 in West Melbourne.
  • She holds the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, the qualification for teaching.

The problem

Practice skin can't teach a real face

Some cosmetic tattoo courses in Melbourne take 3 days. You practise on practice skin, you get a certificate, and you go home.

Then your first real client sits down. Real skin bleeds. It moves. It's oily, or thin, or it has an old tattoo under it. Practice skin does none of that.

Every year, students come to Tina after a short course somewhere else, still not able to do a real face.

A model day: every student working on a real person

How we do it

The class is 3 weeks long. You start working on a real model every day from week 2.

  • There are eight real models in total, and we arrange them for you.
  • The class has a maximum of 10 students, so Tina watches every one of you.
  • Tina and a trainer are beside you on every model.

First, here is why this works.

Tina guiding a student's hand on a real model

Why it works

Work on real faces, not just practice skins. Tina corrects you every day.

  • Eight real faces means eight different skins. You learn what practice skin can't show you.
  • Tina corrects you as you work. Her students say she is not easy in her marking: she points out every detail you missed.
  • Correction of old tattoos is part of the course, so you can fix other people's work too.
Tina correcting a student's brow mapping

Step 1 · Week 1

You learn brows on practice skin first

Theory, brow mapping, colour, the machine. Nano Hairstrokes, Ombré and Combination on practice skin. We fix your mistakes here.

Result: you are ready for a real face. You don't touch a real person until Tina has seen your hand.

A student tattooing brows on a real model, Tina beside her

Step 2 · Week 2

You start working on a real model every day

Five days, five real people. Nano Hairstrokes, Ombré and Powder Brows, Combination Brows: you do all three on real skin, with Tina next to you.

Result: five sets of brows that you did yourself.

"She literally check on every student. And even when I struggle, she encouraged me."Alsie, Complete Brows
Lip and eyeliner work on a real model

Step 3 · Week 3

You finish with lips and eyeliner

Monday and Tuesday on practice skin: lip mapping, colour, the eyeliner line. Wednesday to Friday on real models, one each day.

Result: lip blush and eyeliner done on real people. That makes fifteen days, eight models and five techniques.

The Full Course kit: machine, pigments, needles, tools and practice skins

What you take home

You take home the full kit and your certificate

  • The machine, 4 brow pigments, 2 lip pigments, an eyeliner pigment, 10 needles, tools, practice skins and all the disposables. About $1,000 of kit. Nothing extra to buy.
  • Certificate of Completion: Nano Hairstrokes, Ombré / Powder Brows, Combination Brows, Lip Blush, Eyeliner.
  • Most graduates get their insurance with BMS.
  • The Infection Control unit is the nationally recognised part. You need it to join: $550 with us, or bring yours.

Your questions

The four questions everyone asks

Complete beginner? Yes. You don't need any experience.

Do I find my own models? No. We arrange all eight.

Why $8,760 when some courses are cheaper? Fifteen days, eight real models, the full kit and three months after. A 3-day course is cheaper because it gives you 3 days.

Is it accredited? The Full Course is not nationally recognised. You get a Certificate of Completion. The Infection Control unit is nationally recognised, and you need it to join.

Your questions

Three more questions people ask

I work. I can't take 3 weeks off. Tell us before you book. If you can't do the full days, we'll try to arrange your classes to fit your timetable.

My English isn't perfect. Tina learned all of this in her second language. She teaches step by step and shows you with her hands.

What if I can't afford it right now? Use the payment plan (for Australian citizens) only if $340 a month is comfortable. If it isn't, wait for the next class.

Who it's for

And who should not book

For you if

  • You work in beauty and want brows, lips and eyeliner on your menu.
  • You're a beginner who wants a real career, and you can come to Braybrook, Monday to Friday, for 3 weeks.
  • You want to be corrected.

Not for you if

  • You want a certificate in 2 days.
  • You can't do the Infection Control unit.
  • You want the cheapest course in Melbourne.
  • You want someone else to find your clients.

What students say

"I would completely recommend this course to anyone who's even thinking about it."Ruby, eyes, lips and brows

The honest part

What can go wrong

  • The deposit holds your place and is not refundable. It says so on the enrolment form.
  • Some students take longer. In one class, one student finished the brows in a week; another needed the full three.
  • We can't tell you what you'll earn. It depends on your prices, your clients and your costs. What you leave with: five techniques, a certificate, a full kit, eight real faces done, and Tina in your WhatsApp group.

Is this you?

Where you are now, and what could change

Tina's students come from very different lives. Choose the one that sounds most like you.

You want to earn your own money, and still be there for the little moments.

Right now

  • Maybe your maternity leave is nearly over, and the day you go back is getting closer.
  • You've done the maths on daycare and the hours at work, and it doesn't feel right.
  • Maybe it isn't work you're dreading. Maybe it's that job.

How it fits

The Full Course runs from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, for 3 weeks.

You'll need someone to mind your little one on those 15 days.

After that, you choose your days.

What could change

  • You see clients on the days you choose, with family or childcare on those days.
  • No room of your own yet? You can see your own clients at the academy, from $50 a day.
  • If you want to work from home later, Tina teaches you the council rules for that.

Watch a mum of two talk about choosing a career that fits around their kids

Annie, hairdresser and mum of two · "A better career choice and life choice, because now I've got 2 kids at home."

You want something that's yours: your clients, your prices, your days.

Right now

  • You've wanted your own business for a long time. You just didn't know what it would be.
  • Someone else decides your hours, your pay and your days off.
  • You're not looking for a "make money from your phone" idea. You want a real skill that people pay for.

How it fits

In 3 weeks you learn five techniques on 8 real models, with Tina beside you.

You leave with the full kit, so you can start with real clients the week you finish.

What could change

  • Your own clients, who book you.
  • Your own prices, and your own days.
  • A skill that stays with you, wherever you live.
  • Finding clients takes time and work. Tina teaches you how to photograph your work and how to find clients.

Watch Melina, a structural drafter, on starting their own business

Melina, from Adelaide · "I want to change my career and start my own business in Adelaide."

Your clients keep asking, "Do you do brow tattoo?" And you send them somewhere else.

Right now

  • Your week is full of appointments that take the same time, every time: refills, waxing, tints, lamination.
  • When you stop working, the money stops.
  • Every "sorry, I don't do that" sends a client to another salon.

How it fits

Your clients already trust you with their face.

Finding clients is the hard part for new cosmetic tattoo artists, and you already have them.

Class finishes at 3pm, so you can still see clients in the afternoon.

What could change

  • Brows, lips and eyeliner on your own menu.
  • You say yes the next time a client asks.
  • A service clients pay more for, on top of the work you already do.

Alishan was a lash artist too. Now she also does cosmetic tattoo, 3 or 4 days a week.

Watch Ian, a hairdresser for 22 years, who added cosmetic tattoo to their work

Ian · "Tina's work and qualifications and the school look tidy and professional." Now does hair and cosmetic tattoo.

You open early, you close late, and at the end of the month the money is the same.

Right now

  • Your rent went up. Your products went up. Your prices stayed the same.
  • You're paid by the hour, and there are only so many hours.
  • Every time a client asks for brow tattoo and you say no, they book it somewhere else.

How it fits

You already have the clients, the room and the bed.

The skill is the only thing missing.

Class runs from 10am to 3pm, so you can still see clients after 3.

What could change

  • Brows and lips on your price list, done by you.
  • Clients who come back to you for their colour refresh.
  • Staff who can do it too. A lash and brow company with 5 or 6 salons sent 8 of its lash technicians to learn with Tina.

Watch a salon owner who added 4 new services to their salon

A salon owner who did the course · "Now I can add 4 more new services to my salon list, and I can expand and gain more clients."

Your job pays the bills. But it isn't yours.

Right now

  • You ask if you can leave on time. You ask for a day off. You wait for the pay rise.
  • You'd change careers tomorrow, but you need your pay.
  • Another year goes by, and you're still thinking about it.

How it fits

You don't have to quit your job to start.

The Full Course is 15 weekdays over 3 weeks. That's three weeks of annual leave.

Can't take the full days? Tell us before you book, and we'll try to fit your classes around your timetable.

What could change

  • You learn the skill while you still have your pay.
  • Your first clients, before you decide to leave anything.
  • You choose when to make the change, not your boss.

Tina's students have come from insurance, aged care, admin, construction, drafting, and youth and social work.

Watch Mudjalin, from aged care, on changing career

Mudjalin, from Mildura, 600 km away · "I decide to change the career and then I choose the cosmetic tattoo."

You did a short course. You got a certificate. You still don't feel ready for a real face.

Right now

  • How many real faces did you tattoo in your course?
  • How many students were in your class?
  • What happened when the course ended?

How it fits

Before you pay for any course again, ask these 5 questions.

Here are Tina's answers.

How many students?10 at most
How many real models?8, and we arrange them
How many days?15, over 3 weeks
What's in the kit?The machine, 7 pigments, 10 needles and the tools
What happens after?3 months to come back and practise ($50 a session), and Tina's WhatsApp group for life

What could change

  • Your first paying client you're proud of.
  • Correcting old tattoos is part of the course, so you can fix work too.

Watch Julianne on the extra support and training they got here

Julianne · "They give you so much support and extra training, longer than all the other places that I know." Now does fine line and cosmetic tattoo.

Why cosmetic tattoo

You can charge much more for cosmetic tattoo, and clients come back for touch-ups.

Cosmetic tattoo gives people brows, lips and eyeliner they don't have to draw on every morning. It fades slowly, so clients come back for a touch-up 4 to 8 weeks later, and for a colour refresh every 6 to 18 months.

What clients pay at one Melbourne studio

$500–$599

for brow tattoo, about 2½ hours

  • Lip blush$550
  • Brows and lips together$1,240
  • Touch-up, 4 to 8 weeks later$250
  • Colour refresh, 6 to 18 months later$200–$300

From a Forest Hill cosmetic tattoo studio's published price list, checked on 15 October 2026. For comparison, a lash refill at a St Kilda lash studio is $50 to $90.

Students' stories

This is where some of Tina's students are now

These are real stories from Tina's students. Every student is different, and nobody can promise you a job or an income.

Alishan borrowed the money for the course from her brother. One month after finishing, she had paid it all back.

Alishan didn't have the money for the course, so she borrowed it from her brother.

After graduating, she paid it back in full within one month, from her own cosmetic tattoo clients.

Today Alishan rents a room at Golden Brows Academy and sees her own clients there.

Alishan's week, from Tina

$450a client
2clients a day
3days a week
That's a week of$2,700
Over 4 working weeks$10,800a month in bookings, before costs

That's the low end: Alishan sees 2 or 3 clients a day, 3 or 4 days a week. Her costs come out of it: the room, pigments, needles and insurance.

This is Alishan's own experience, and results are different for each person. They depend on your prices, your bookings, your experience, where you work, your marketing and your costs.

Your worries, answered

Worried about one of these? So were they.

Six worries people bring to Tina, answered properly, each with a student who felt the same.

"I can't afford it right now."

  • The Full Course is $8,760. That includes the machine and the full kit, 8 real models, and 3 months of support after.
  • A $1,000 deposit holds your place. The rest is due 7 days before your class starts.
  • Payment plans, for Australian citizens: about $340 a month with TLC over 3 years, or PayRight for smaller amounts, up to $5,500. Rates and approval are set by the provider.
  • Only use a payment plan if the monthly payment is comfortable. If it isn't, wait for the next class.
Alishan didn't have the money either. She borrowed it from her brother, and paid it back within one month of finishing, from her own clients. Today she rents a room at the academy.Alishan's own experience. Results are different for each person.

"I've never done this. Is it OK for a complete beginner?"

  • Yes. You don't need any experience.
  • Week 1 is theory and practice skin. You don't touch a real person until Tina has seen your hand.
  • From week 2, you work on a real model every day, with Tina and a trainer beside you.
  • A class has 10 students at most, so Tina watches every one of you.
Chloe Drew came from youth and social work. "I came from a social work background with minimal industry training, but I left feeling incredibly confident in my skills & progression." Tina says Chloe works in cosmetic tattoo now.

"Do I have to find my own models?"

  • No. We arrange all 8 real models for you.
  • You work on one a day from week 2: five for brows, then three for lips and eyeliner.
  • Eight real faces means eight different skins, so you learn what practice skin can't show you.
Alsie worried about keeping up. "She literally check on every student. And even when I struggle, she encouraged me." Alsie now does beauty and cosmetic tattoo.

"I work. I can't take 3 weeks off."

  • You don't have to quit your job to start.
  • The Full Course is 15 weekdays over 3 weeks, from 10am to 3pm. That's three weeks of annual leave.
  • If you can't do the full days, tell us before you book. We'll try to arrange your classes to fit your timetable.
One student worked for an insurance company. They left that job, and now they work full-time as a cosmetic tattoo artist, from their own home salon.

"My English isn't perfect."

  • Tina learned all of this in her second language.
  • She teaches step by step and shows you with her hands.
  • You stay in Tina's WhatsApp group for life, so you can ask her later too.
Tina is the proof. She learned cosmetic tattoo in her second language. Today she judges and speaks at cosmetic tattoo competitions in five countries.

"Where are you? I don't live nearby."

  • 16B/77-79 Ashley Street, Braybrook VIC 3019, in Melbourne's west. See the map.
  • Students have travelled from Mildura (600 km away), Adelaide, Canberra and regional New South Wales for the 3 weeks.
A student from Canberra moved to Melbourne for the course. Now: "I started working… as a lash and brow artist, and I'm doing clients now."

Your questions

Answered before you ask

Why is it $8,760? Some courses are much cheaper.

Because it's 15 days, not 3. Eight real models that we find for you. The full kit. And 3 months after. A 3-day course is cheaper because it gives you 3 days. We'd rather you pay once and learn it properly.

Is the kit really included?

Yes. The machine, the pigments, the needles, the tools, the practice skins. You walk out able to work.

Is the course accredited?

Honest answer: the Full Course is not nationally recognised. You get a Certificate of Completion for five techniques. The part that is nationally recognised is the Infection Control unit, and you need it to join the course: $550 with us, or bring your own. Most of our graduates get their insurance with BMS.

Eligible students may also go on to a nationally recognised qualification through an approved RTO (registered training organisation), at an extra cost. Contact us for RPL (recognition of prior learning) and the qualification options and prices.

What support do I get after?

A WhatsApp group with Tina, for life. Three months to come back and practise on models here. 10% off your supplies from us, for life. And you can message her.

How much can I earn after the course?

Nobody can promise you an amount. It depends on your prices, how many clients you see, and your costs. You can try your own numbers in the calculator. One real example: Alishan charges about $450 a client and sees 2 or 3 clients a day. That's Alishan's own experience, and results are different for each person.

Where would I work after the course?

In your own salon or room, if you have one. If not, you can see your own clients at the academy, from $50 a day. If you'd rather have a job, Tina is happy to recommend strong graduates to salons, but it's not a guaranteed job. And if you want to work from home later, Tina teaches you the council rules for that.

Can you help me get a job after the course?

We can't promise anyone a job. But we are happy to recommend our students to salons after they graduate. Over the past few years, many salons have recruited staff from graduates of our Academy.

Can I learn brows only?

Yes. The Complete Brows course is the first 2 weeks of the Full Course: 10 days, all three brow techniques, $6,250 with the current discount. The Full Course adds lips and eyeliner, so you can offer all three.

When are the next classes?

9 November, 30 November, 11 January, 1 February and 1 March. All the dates are below.

Who it's for

And who should not book

It's for you if

  • You work in beauty and you want brows, lips and eyeliner on your menu.
  • You're a mum, and you want work that fits around your kids.
  • Your job pays the bills, but you want a skill that's yours.
  • You're a beginner who wants a real career, and you can come to Braybrook, Monday to Friday, for 3 weeks.
  • You want to be corrected, properly, by someone who won't let a crooked tail through.

Not for you if

  • You want a certificate in 2 days.
  • You can't do the Infection Control unit.
  • You want the cheapest course in Melbourne. There are cheaper ones.
  • You want someone else to find your clients for you. We teach you how. You do it.

The honest part

What can go wrong

The deposit

It holds your place and it's not refundable. It says so on the enrolment form. If you can't come, tell us as early as you can.

Some students take longer

In one class, one student finished the brows in a week. Another needed the full three. That's what the 3 months of practice after the course is for.

What you'll earn

Nobody can tell you that. It depends on your prices, your suburb, your costs and how many clients you find. That's why the calculator on this page only uses your numbers.
